Coffee With the Chancellor

Wednesday, Mar 20

Aloha! Start your day with some coffee and breakfast sweets and join us for an informal, “fireside chat” with University of Hawai‘i at Hilo Interim Chancellor Marcia Sakai.

She will share about the new and ongoing programs at UH Hilo which challenge students to reach their highest level of academic achievement by inspiring learning, discovery, and creativity inside and outside the classroom.

Meet Grady Weyenberg, Assistant Professor, Mathematics who will talk about decision science, the interdisciplinary application of business, math, technology, design thinking and behavioral sciences to enable better decisions. He is a member of the ?Ike Wai (Knowledge, Water) project team, which has the overall goal of gathering new data on groundwater flow, sustainable yield, and economic impact. The data will help communities and state decision makers preserve Hawai‘i’s water resources for the future.

A graduate of Waiakea High School, Professor Weyenberg received his PhD in Statistics from the University of Kentucky.
