The Office of Mauna Kea Management (OMKM) is pleased to provide copies of the Mauna Kea Cultural Resource Management Plan (CRMP) and Natural Resources Management Plan (NRMP) for public examination and comment.
The CRMP and NRMP are two of the four sub-plans developed as part of the Mauna Kea Comprehensive Management Plan (CMP), which was approved by the Board of Land and Natural Resources (BLNR) on April 9, 2009. They provide detailed information on the status of and threats to Mauna Kea’s cultural and natural resources and offer management recommendations to protect these resources. They are also designed to help OMKM identify key management objectives and priorities.
Both plans have undergone a community consultation process that gathered input from cultural practitioners, scientific experts, natural resource managers, and concerned members of the public. Stakeholder involvement in the development of these plans will enhance OMKM’s efforts to fulfill its mission of protecting, preserving, and enhancing the cultural and natural resources in the University of Hawaii (UH) management areas on Mauna Kea.
